Semaglutide Dosing Schedule: Weekly Injection Guide
Choosing Your Injection Day
Pick a day that works with your routine and stick to it. Common strategies:
- Sunday or Monday: Start of week — easy to remember, side effects (if any) fall on weekdays when you are active
- Friday: Weekend timing — if you experience nausea the first day or two, it falls on days you can rest
- Any weekday: Tie it to a recurring appointment, meeting, or habit so you never forget
Weekly Injection Schedule Template
| Week | Injection Day | Dose | Next Injection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Your chosen day | 0.25mg | Exactly 7 days later |
| Week 2 | Same day | 0.25mg | Exactly 7 days later |
| Week 3 | Same day | 0.25mg | Exactly 7 days later |
| Week 4 | Same day | 0.25mg | Escalate to 0.5mg next week |
Time of Day
Semaglutide can be injected at any time of day — morning, afternoon, or evening. With or without food. The most important thing is consistency on the day, not the hour. If nausea is an issue, some people find injecting at night before bed helps them sleep through the worst of it.
Injection Sites
Rotate injection sites to prevent tissue buildup:
- Abdomen (at least 2 inches from the navel)
- Upper thigh (front or outer)
- Upper arm (outer area)
Rotate within each site — do not inject in the exact same spot twice in a row. Give each spot at least 2 weeks before returning to it.
What If You Miss Your Injection Day?
See our full missed dose guide for a decision tree. The short version: if it has been less than 5 days since your scheduled injection day, inject as soon as you remember. If it has been 5 or more days, skip and inject on your next scheduled day.
